The Congregations

Back
The pulpit inside Speymouth Parish Church We have two friendly and active congregations that aim to use their many talents to the full. In worship, members regularly assist with scripture readings. We also have a great musical culture in our area that can often be seen in church services, with vocal and instrumental groups featuring in worship from time to time.

Sunday morning services are generally well attended and this includes attendance at Sunday School. The congregation represents a wide age range and is always actively seeking new members of all ages. Anyone who is interested in church membership should contact the minister.

Again, the congregation is always interested in new members and would encourage anyone considering church membership to contact the minister.

The year 2009 has been a very special year for Bellie and Speymouth Parish Churches as we have celebrated the 50th year anniversary of the linkage between our churches. This was marked with various events during the year, including an outdoor service on the Old Spey bridge on 1 March 2009, the exact date of the 50th anniversary. The location for this service was particularly fitting in that the River Spey marks the boundary between the parishes and the bridges symbolise the link between our churches.

The 50th anniversary was also celebrated with a joint 1950s style congregational picnic. The aim was to replicate the sort of Sunday School picnic that may have taken place around the time our churches became linked in 1959, from the transport to the food.

Holy Communion is celebrated in both churches at four morning services per year - in February, April, September and November. Short evening Communion Services are also held in the sheltered housing complex at Milnescroft on the same days, to which anyone is invited.

A church magazine for the linked charge is distributed to members of both congregations four times per year.
