Malawi Outreach 2026

In July 2026, a team from Bellie & Speymouth Parish Church will travel to Malawi as part of an exciting and deeply meaningful outreach project. This journey is about far more than travel - it is about partnership, faith, and making a lasting difference in the lives of children and families.

Our Vision

At the heart of this outreach is the rebuilding and re-establishing of the KIX (Kids in Christ) Nursery in Malingunde, Malawi.

Following severe flooding caused by changes to a nearby dam, the original nursery site became unusable. What was once a place of learning, safety, and hope for young children now needs to be rebuilt - both physically and as a thriving community space.

Our vision is to help restore this vital ministry:

  • A safe and nurturing environment for young children
  • Access to early education
  • A place where Christian faith, care, and community can flourish

A Partnership Across Continents

This outreach is not something we are doing alone. We are working in partnership with:

  • The Dutch Reformed Church in the Western Cape (Bellville-West)
  • The CCAP Nkhoma Synod in Malawi

Together, we are responding to a real need with a shared commitment to serve.

This partnership also reflects a deeper story of connection - linking Scotland, South Africa, and Malawi through shared faith and history, echoing the legacy of figures like Andrew Murray.

The Journey

The team will travel in early July 2026, joining others in South Africa before making their way north to Malawi. Some will travel overland as part of a convoy; others will fly to join the group.

The journey itself is part of the experience - building relationships, sharing stories, and preparing together for the work ahead.

What We Will Be Doing

While in Malawi, the team will:

  • Assist with practical work related to the nursery project
  • Support and encourage local leaders and volunteers
  • Engage with children and families in the community
  • Share in worship, fellowship, and daily life

Above all, we go to serve alongside, not simply to do for - learning as much as we give.

Fundraising and Support

To make this outreach possible, we are seeking to raise £50,000. These funds will support:

  • Building and material costs for the nursery
  • Travel and logistical expenses
  • Resources for the ongoing ministry in Malawi

We have already begun this journey through a variety of creative and community-driven fundraising events - from quiz nights and coffee mornings to concerts and themed evenings.

How You Can Get Involved

There are many ways to be part of this journey:

  • Pray for the team, our partners, and the community in Malingunde
  • Give financially to support the project
  • Attend fundraising events and spread the word
  • Encourage those who are going

We have a dedicted fundraising page using Give a Little: Malawi mission trip - Give A Little

This is not just a trip - it is a shared calling as a Church.

Stay Connected

We will be sharing updates, stories, and opportunities to support the outreach through our website and Facebook page.
